Amar Rahman
Amar is the architect and strategic driver of our climate and sustainability business, which is catapulting Zurich Insurance into a true market leadership position in the industry. In his role, he drives the go-to-market agenda for our risk management and resilience capabilities, which combines climate data and insights with risk engineering expertise, to help global customers adapt to a changing world of risk.
He is passionate about customer value creation and serves as the firm’s brand ambassador, while also leading our sales charge across 20+ global markets. He is a sought-out subject matter expert, regularly speaking at major industry conferences and featuring in top-tier media for his insights.
Prior to joining the company in 2011 he held several roles in the civil engineering sector, specializing in large-scale infrastructure projects across petroleum, bridges, energy infrastructure, and desalination plants.
Amar has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Baghdad and a PhD in earthquake engineering and structural dynamics from the University of Canterbury. He also completed post-doctoral fellowships at Canterbury and at the Technical University of Darmstadt, while also earning his Executive MBA from the University of Strathclyde.
